[Thisletterisusuallydated1824，butIthinkitwaswrittenearlier.Foronereason，HartleyColeridgewasnotinLondoninthatyear，andforanother，thereareseveralphrasesintheEliaessay"TwoRacesofMen"（printedintheLondonMagazine，December，1820）thataresosimilartosomeinthisletterthatIimaginethelettertohavesuggestedthesubjectoftheessay，thepositionofwhichimmediatelyfollowedit.Thus，intheessayweread:—
